It also gives you maximum adjustability for the neck strap.   There are two terry cloth burp cloths sewn securely in the corners.   Nursing covers are machine washable (on cold please). You can tumble dry them on low.You might want to consider washing it in a  lingerie bag (or pillow case) so the boning and straps do not get caught in the machine agitator.    This is a hand sewn item.
