The ONLY difference is the writing on the face-plate (cover). In fact the face-plate that says pump-in-style is interchangeable with this one because they are the same face-plate & pump... just different writing. There is absolutely no difference in the motor... it is a pump in style motor. Medela chose to call this one a Personal Double Pump (available by prescription) in order to differentiate it from the pump in style which is available to the public.
